DREGHORN & SPRINGSIDE HALLS - WHAT"S ON SCHEDULE

DREGHORN & SPRINGSIDE HALL WHERE COMMUNITY AND FAITH MEET

Our hall continues to be well-used.

In the summer we were able to support the village Gala Committee by hosting a family Beetle Drive, and a Gala Disco for the children.

After church on a Sunday our children cross over to the hall for their own Sunday School.  Straight after our church service you are welcomed in the hall by our Social Events Committee, who provide tea and biscuits. This gives us the opportunity to socialise together.

On Mondays we have a Hatha Yoga Class (and a Chair Yoga Class for those less able).  The B.B. Company Section, who use the hall after the yoga class, often wake us all up!  Once a fortnight, on a Saturday morning, there is a Health & Wellbeing Yoga Class.  Herbal teas are provided at this time.

Tuesday mornings, you are welcomed at the Coffee Club, run by our Social Events Committee.  Pancakes and scones are served with drinks while you chat to friends old and new. Throughout the year there are special seasonal coffee mornings.  Tuesday nights, the Brownies fill our hall with song and laughter.

Wednesday mornings, you are welcome to join the Community Led Action Group Line Dance Class.  This class is for beginners and advanced line dancers.  Jim and Ann from the Hope charity lead the class and provide a great experience for everyone, with refreshments provided during the break.  Every couple of months, on a Sunday afternoon, we host the line dance area social event. This is attended by people who belong to other line dance classes all over Ayrshire.  Friendly competition can be seen at this time.

On Wednesday evenings, the Anchor Boys and B.B. use the hall, perhaps not for dancing but they do have a variety of different activities and experiences.

Thursday mornings we have a busy Toddler Group. There are four local child minders who oversee the running of the group for local families. Having the large hall is an excellent space for our youngest children to play together.  They have recently started using a Song Bag – the children choose an item from the bag to link with a song.  Favourite songs include This Little Light of Mine (our Messy Church song of the year).

Thursday evenings, the Rainbows meet, followed by the Guides, all of whom are busy at the moment having many exciting activities and experiences while working towards badges and awards.

One Friday a month we have Messy Church, which is a truly inter-generational church.  Full of fun, laughter, love of Jesus and of each other.  After we say grace, we all share a meal together The yearly church Quiz Night has returned to Dreghorn.  Our Social Events Committee organised a very successful one in September, when around eighty people took part. It was an enjoyable evening with a delicious supper provided.

The Social Committee are busy organising the Christmas Fayre and the Christmas Eve Carol Service.  They hope to have a Ceilidh early in the new year.

Dreghorn Primary School Parents Association will have the children’s Christmas parties in the hall and also plan to use the hall for a family night in February next year.

With the support of our Youth Pastor, we hope to start a Youth Club on a Friday night.

Many thanks to all who help with our various groups/organisations and events. Without your support it would not be possible to continue with our mission in Dreghorn and Springside. We are indeed blessed.
